Website Look Configurator
When vibe coding, if you let AI too much freedom in choosing the design, all websites end up looking the same. I decided to dive a bit deeper into different graphic and UI styles and, at the same time, build a small app that lets you combine various styles and choose colors, typography... In just a few clicks, a person could select roughly the style that feels closest to them. This generates a link that gets sent to my email, and thanks to it the app outputs a prompt for AI with the specification of the chosen style.

Why even deal with this? I’m not a graphic designer, I just have a sense for graphics. I don’t create designs; that’s what designers are for. Well, until now. Today it’s possible to use AI to create the visual appearance of websites. However, AI needs to be given proper instructions on exactly how the website should look. And a potential client could, thanks to this small app, get closer to what feels most natural to them. They won’t get a specific graphic design, just a style we’ll use as the foundation when building the website. In the end, it’s about how the website feels to you, not whether it is built pixel-perfect according to a design mockup. Of course, this only applies to a certain group of projects and clients who can relate to this approach. But why not?
I spent about two days on the whole project and got to the point where each combination would need to be fine-tuned manually (meaning dictating specific tiny changes to AI), because even the most precise specification of a particular style does not lead to something usable for style selection. At this point I’m putting the project into pause mode and waiting for ChatGPT 5.5, which is not yet available in VS Code GitHub Copilot. But I think it would definitely handle this a bit better.
What I want to add next
A quick overview of the integrations, improvements, and ideas that should move the project forward.
fine-tune the individual visual styles so they differ more and match their names better
finalize the color palettes - light and dark
I receive by email the combination chosen by the client and the brief, which is attached to the project as the style definition brief
